    I’ve done it on 2.35 Ikons the past 2 years. Pretty happy with that. I can see a 2.4 Ardent being fine up front if you’re a fan of that tire. Nothing on the trail is crazy rowdy but there is plenty of rocks, roots, occasional moisture, and alpine ruts throughout.

    Targeted 350w tonight and again completed the session fairly easily. Final interval was an average of 449w just to see if I could. Finished feeling strong and like there was plenty more left if needed. HR was peaking at 158bpm which just touches zone 3 however TSB is pretty negative and it was 40 and raining outside. Legs felt good throughout, better than last week even.

    Will slowly increase the target as long as I can continue to meet the goals in the posts above.

    How hard are they supposed to feel/be? Low L6 doesn’t often feel hard but I don’t know if that’s my singlespeed background.

    I was able to consistently hold the designated power level tonight throughout the entire set of 15. Last one I increased a bit out of curiosity and it was the hardest at 413w average. I would spike a bit on the initial hit but otherwise was fairly consistent/low vi. HR peaked at 161 BPM which is Z3. No dropoff in power. I was generally limiting myself from what I could have done. I did them on my race bike with a 32×16 gear.

    Since they’re new I just want to make sure I’m pacing correctly. If I need to hold at 340w for now I will just repeat next week like this one.

    Thanks Lynda! Its super soggy here but I’m trying to figure something out. It just may be a hilly roads and rain jacket day.

    Gottcha. I will review my power data from last Sunday to check power level 3 time in the bin and then adjust accordingly for this weekend. Thanks!

    When pacing Z3 power up a hill mountain biking, is the goal that the top of Z3 is a hard cap or that you would want NP to be in the Z3 range? I’m thinking of hills that are fairly steady but still off road and have some small steeper ups and downs and rocks mixed in.

    If I still think power is off I may retest next week.

    Excellent. I will look carefully at the plan and try to fill any gaps with in-garage supplemental weights/floor work. I’ve found that I can even fit in a workout at the playground by using the monkey bars and swingsets šŸ™‚

    Awesome, thanks guys! I had the training peaks demo but i’m going to upgrade now that it ran out.
