Sorry you mentioned it was grade 1 I missed that. Same method for strength training most likely applies. Best of luck

Sorry to hear about the AC joint. Did they take an X-ray or MRI to confirm that the tear was low grade? It’s painful to do much of anything that requires shoulder strength even with a low grade sep or low grade tear, let alone one that may be more severe. I had a degree two separation years ago from a fall on my snowboard. It was noticeable pain and I took very cautious steps in the gym to strengthen it which took me well over a year. I did cable work and work with the bands, with very low resistance. Felt like a two year old for a long time, but low and behold I regained 100 percent strength about 2 years later. The exercises I used were recommended by a sports med doc, I just added some variations over time as it felt better.

I would get the X-ray or MRI ..know exactly how severe it is, and start incorporating strength training as soon as your Doctor says it’s okay.

Okay so if its recovery I can work on that. But what about not racing as much? I did all that training and only raced a couple of times. Does not racing as much also effect the outcome?

What do I for the race on Oct 13th? Between now and then.  thanks Lynda

The Camelback Lobo is Camelbacks most streamlined offering. Its 100 oz reservoir, so if you plan on doing ride longer than 3 hours, just bring a water bottle with you and you'd have plenty of fluids for the race or training/fun ride. The other models in the camelback line seem to be bulkier – more like 'day' packs.

Thanks for the “positive advice Lynda”. You said to me in the past dont do any race if it feels like a chore. And this first one did, so I scrapped it.I will take what you said here as very sound advice for future races that aren't “A” races.

My schedule for the series changed. They put in 2 races in August and September – those would be my A Races. I am into week #2 of the Race/Peak plan, which has me peaking in July! Granted there are some races in July that I can do, but if my A's arent until august/september, how do I modify?

Finish the plan as scheduled then repeat it?

Hi Lynda – Goals this year is to hit any mountain bike race I do and kill it. Podium only or go home feeling like a loser. (literally) After being on the podium last year, I moved up in age group, and I think if I am trained properly and follow your plan, I can win some races. or at least be top 3 for them.

Thats why I question this upcoming Sundays race. I do feel strong, but not race fit just yet. So do I waste a matchstick just for training and say “who cares” about the outcome this Sunday? or just wait until May when there are 2 races back to back that I really want to excel in.

I will follow your advice here.

Okay so you are confirming the pain and suffering I witnessed today on the road. Should I also plug in some MTB group rides?

I can do Saturdays ride on friday. but what do I do with friday's ride? (it seems to be more of a recovery type ride so are you suggesting I now remove fridays ride and do Saturday's ride then?)

Hi Lynda – All I can say is – PODIUM! I took 3rd place again this weekend – at my PEAK race. So that means I was on the podium in back to back races, and I couldn't be happier.

I was not far out of 2nd place position either, and trust me the goal for this season was to finish standing on the wood – so I will take a 3rd all day long.

This was a 15 mile XC race – with 2 laps and a large 700 foot climb on both – and I just banged it out – I suffered, but I felt so strong especially climbing.

I cant thank you enough for answering my questions on the forum. I followed the XC Cat 1 time crunched plan. I sent you an email as well – would like to talk by phone to set up the off season with you. And make arrangements for how you can advise me for next season. Coaching options etc. Please let me know a good time to connect.

ESI Silicone Grips are: 1.) super comfortable 2.) what a lot of the pros are using  3.) not that expensive 4.) come in 2 styles. race and chunky. I use the xc race.

I have 2 pairs, have used Ergons and ODI's and find the ESI's to be better  – and I loved the Ergon's as well. http://www.esigrips.com

    hope this helps

thanks Lynda – but I havent had a rest week  – so if I start back on the plan at week # 10 – there really is no rest right till my races on Sept 9 and Sept 16.

Ill do whatever you tell me here – but wanted to know if I should take this week as a rest type week (possibly repeat week #8?) then do weeks #11 and #12 to peak?

Thank you but that means I loose a ride. If I do the Sunday ride on Saturday, I’m scrapping the saturday ride. Does that mean I loose the sat ride completely or make it up on Sunday’s or Monday.

Sorry cat 1 time crunched race/peak

Also – I  was wondering something else. We originally choose the Cat 1 time crunched race plan for me (even though Im racing Cat 2). But I want to MAXIMIZE the next 2 months. Is the Cat 1 time crunched enough to try and get me from placing in the top 5 to the top 3? Or should I step it up and buy your Cat 1 race plan – and add some more hours.

I can train at least 10 solid hours per week. Hitting 13 is a push -but I can do the 10. Im on week 4 – you tell me. We already went past your Cat 2 plan and jumped right into Cat 1 time crunched. Now im throwing you a curve ball and asking if I should jump into your next level plan.

    as always – thank you
