ParticipantHi Lynda, I already have your 24 Solo PR plan which I have used the past 2 years to get ready for races in June and just sorta done my own thing for base miles in the winter.
My yearly volume has been around 550-600 hours the past couple years.
I am looking at 3 of your base training plans to use this winter after a two week break from racing. I would be going from whatever plan I choose to the 24 Solo PR plan if that makes any difference. I live in the South so getting out in the winter is not an issue, I can commute to work daily which also helps get the miles in. I will be doing my target race in June and all others throughout the year on a singlespeed, but have a bike with gears I can use also.
Which of these plans would be best for me? Also curious as to your rationale as to why if you don't mind…they seem quite similar in hours. Number 1 seems to build on some of Dave Harris' (and yours I guess) ideas about getting the hard intensity done in the winter to do more race specific training throughout the season which I like. Probably going with the Winter plan for endurance racers…just want to make sure I'm not missing anything.
1. Winter Plan for endurance racers- looks pretty good
2. Cat 1 Base plan-seems better suited for racers doing shorter stuff
3. Singlespeed base plan- not quite enough volume…
Thanks!
