I’m starting the 100mile PR plan in a few weeks, but there’s a 2 week family vacation right in the middle of the plan. What’s the best way to handle this?

Assuming you have no bike and no training option on your family vacation, the best scenario is to put the plan on hold for 2 weeks. Come home fresh, rested, healthy and ready to train.

In that case, should I move the start of following the plan up a few weeks?

If so then I get to run into a week long business trip that was originally going to happen right before I’d start the plan. In the case of the business trip, I’ll have access to the hotel gym for some workouts, but will be limited to how much riding I could be doing (I _really_ wouldn’t want to be on a gym exercise bike for multiple hours).

Can you train while on your family vacation?

I can take my bike, but knowing the schedule we’ll be traveling on, I won’t be able to do a full training schedule (time-wise). Could I substitute more intense training those weeks vs long training?

Move the plan start back one week and count in one recovery week from the plan while you are on vacation.
