ParticipantI am on week 11, day one of the 100 mile PR plan. Last week I raced in a 50 mile race, and tried to pace the race in HR zone 3. I didnt feel like it was fast enough to stay with the leaders, and upped my pace to a low to mid hr zone 4 and felt really strong and much better. However, I had lost enough time to the others trying to keep my HR low and controlled and couldnt catch back up to them. Is there a more advanced method to learning to ride in a zone 4 in a race? Or is the idea to just get faster in zone 3?
Thanks.

KeymasterYou can't race for 100 miles in heart rate zone 4. Give it a try at your race next week and let me know how long you last before your legs cramp.
