      Lynda,

I just did my 2nd TT, in week 8 of the 100 m finisher plan. My avg heart rate was higher than my first one several weeks ago.

      Is this expected?

How did your performance compare? Did you ride faster, go further and produce more power? Were testing conditions identical?

I rode a little further and faster than my first one.  (.25 miles further, .8 mph faster)

Testing conditions were not identical though.  Course was the same, but it was windy and hot (93 F).  I have also been battling some sort of lung / sinus cough thing for a week or so.  I felt naseous afterward.  I'm not sure if it was the energy drink, the sickness or perhaps I pushed myself harder than before.  Or maybe a combination of all three?

I expected the distance to increase more than .25 miles, but recognize that the wind was probably a significant factor.

      Look forward to your thoughts.

What was your average HR for each test?

      Test 1: 160 avg bpm

      Test 2: 164 avg bpm

The heat will account for some of that HR increase.

I recommend splitting the difference and using 162 bpm to set your HR zones for this next block of training.

Generally it is not expected that HR will change much during the plan.
