      Hello Linda,
      Would like some advice on which training plan would be best suited for me. I’m 52 yes old and currently racing in a 3hr XC series (as many laps as you can do in 3 hrs) and looking to improve my results. As of next week (May 13) there are 24 weeks left until the final race of the season. I have races on June 15, sept 28, and oct 24. I have been training this season on my own including strength training, Road riding and MTB riding totaling about 5-7 hrs per week. I think the 40+ plans are the way to go. Just not sure if I should start w the base plan or the 12 week plan. Thank you for your help.

      Hi Jesse,

      The 40+ plans are the way to go. I recommend starting with the 12-week Masters 40+ Cross Country Mountain Bike Build Peak and Race Mountain Bike Training Plan. Follow all 12 weeks, take a week off training for a break then restart the plan at week # 2 and follow it through again to your last race of the season.

      Ok I purchased TP version of the plan. Everything went well until I tried to do the test using my garmin edge 520. During the workout my screen has three data fields. The top is power, the middle is time to go, and the bottom is step time. I do not have a power meter. Is there a way to get the top data field to show heart rate? I can’t figure out how to change it.

      Hi Jesse,

      You can change the data fields on your Garmin 520 in the settings menu. Here are the instructions on the Garmin site.
