Got a question about what plans to stack for next season.
Anyway, I have been doing about 3 months of base so far this fall, about 12-14 hrs weekly with most of the rides on the Powertap road bike. Structure has looked like this:

      Monday OFF
      Tuesday 60-120 min. Tempo
      Wed. 3 hr L2 ride
      Thursday Sweet Spot workout
      Friday OFF
      Sat. 4 hr L2 ride
Sunday 2 hr SS mtn ride (L2 and L3)

I have some races in February coming up (between 6 and 9 hr solos on my singlespeed). I have not been on the SS much due to riding lower power levels on the road bike mostly and don't want to be “missing” my SS legs come February. Also, I am beginning one of LyndaWs 12 wk. 24 solo plans on March 1. Question is what to do in the time leading up to that…keep going with what I am doing now or add in some SS/fixed miles? I was thinking something like this:

      Monday OFF
Tuesday 2 hr Tempo/SST fixed gear ride
      Wed. 3 hr easy geared
      Thursday Same as Tues
      Friday oFF
      Sat 4 hr easy geared
Sun 3-4 hr L2-L4 SS mtn ride

Wondering if I need a 6 hr ride in here somewhere before a 9 hr. in February but don't want to peak before the 24 solo. Pretty much want to maintain my base fitness but be ready for a long ss race without dying!

So basically what would I stack to get from now to 24 solo on May 29 and then peak again for a 9 hour november 12, all singlespeed. (Already have the 24 solo pr plan, used it last year).

      Jon,

Nice work with the base training. Your schedule looks good. Maintaining that through March 1st would work as a nice lead in to the 24 hour PR plan.

Maintain the first version I posted or the second one with the fixed/ss rides? Seems like I would need more than one ss ride per week to get used to it for races…

Oh, and what plan should I use to get from the 24 solo in late May to the 9 hour Nov. 12?

      Thanks for the quick responses.
