ParticipantHi Lynda,
My goals are to increase fitness and race in my first few MTB races this year. I currently have plans to participate in the Mudslinger XC MTB race on March 24th. Nothing else is scheduled yet.
I had an illness that kept me from completing Week 10, days 6&7, and all of Week 11. I did do some indoor cycling at a recovery level and core work as I was recovering.
Today would be day 1 of Week 12 (Max Strength A).
Originally my plan was to start the 40+ Cross Country Build, Peak and race on Feb 26th (1 week of rest after completing week 12 of the base plan).
Would you recommend any changes in order to recover some of the Week 10 and Week 11 Base Plan training days that were missed?
Thanks,

KeymasterHi Steve,
Assuming you are asking about the Masters 40+ Mountain Bike Base Mountain Bike Training Plan
As you have 1 week to spare, I recommend you make up week 11 this week and follow week 12 in your spare week.

ParticipantThanks Lynda for the quick reply. Yes, I was asking about the Masters 40+ MTB Base Training Plan.
I’m very much enjoying following the plan.
Now that I have the Masters 40+ Cross Country Build, Peak and Race plan, I’m looking ahead and seeing that my first race would fall on Day 6 of Week 4 where the planned workout is “Tech Skills, 60′ @ XC race pace” this seems like a good fit where I expect the race to be 21mi and take ~90min. Any concerns or recommended changes?

KeymasterThat is a great fit! If it is a high priority race, reduce the intensity of the day 4 intervals in week 4 to power L3 and only do 2 sets. If it is a low priority race, no changes are needed.
