      Maybe 2011?

The regular plans have been working so well for SSers that I am not clear on what changes I would make to the plans to make them SS specific. Add on top that most SS racers also have geared bikes for training but not all. I am still mulling over the best approach for SS specific plans.

What really works nicely is for SSers to do the regular plans as follows; on the regular plans, ride the specific weekday intervals with

Weekdays: T-W-Th; road geared w/Powertap, road SS, & road Powercranks (I have a bike addiction)

Weekends: SSMTB endurance, weather permitting (Norcal monsoon)

You are set with the regular plans then – do the intervals mostly geared/PT and longer stuff SS.

If you have the right grade hill and SS gear to nail an interval session it is possible to pull it off SS but if you have to make power compromises you are better off taking out the geared bike. I have flopped too many training sessions by trying to do them SS and having the wrong gear. Even a little headwind or tailwind can mess you up on an SS when you are trying to do a specific workout.

IMO mixing up SS and geared training maximises both sides and makes you a faster SS rider.

LOVE my Milk Money – just love it!!! My HT SS is not seeing much action these days…

I have the propedal set on #3 and flip it between full open and on all the time. I don't like to climb out of the saddle with it full open. I use full open when I am descending, riding tech or chunky stuff, rapping/coasting and spun out. It is faster to rap and coast off road with the suspension fully active cause you can stay seated over all the little bumpy and stay on the gas at high cadence.
