      Lynda,

      Plan: 40+ 50 Miler PR

      1. Sustained an injury yesterday and will miss the Carrabassett 100K on 7/15. Need 2 weeks to recover so I can start training again on 7/23. Where should I pick up the training plan to be ready for Crotched Mntn 100K on 8/19?

      2. I’m interested in your take on this injury. This was a slow speed incicdent where I came to an abrupt stop in a rock garden, put my foot down and the big ring sliced the back of my leg just above the achilles and below the calf muscle. 12 stitches. Any idea how often this happens? As a pro, are you trained to avoid it?

The worst part is it’s a real drag to feel ready and not be able to get 4 NUE events finished this year.

      Tom,

      Sorry to hear that.

      1. Wait out your 2 weeks of recovery time before deciding the most accurate way to proceed forward. It is always best to make decisions with the most up-to-date info.

      2. I’ve heard of this once before and it is simply a hazard of mountain biking.

Set-backs are tough to deal with when they derail your season goal. Focus on rehab and recovery then come-back with a new goal. Come-backs can be fun!

      Lynda,

Thank you for the quick reply and encouragement. I’ll check back after two weeks of core work, bench press, and left leg glute-bridges. 🙂

Stitches are still in but I’m cleared to ride. The last week and a half I’ve only done strength training and taken the dog for walks.

Where do you recommend I start back with the training plan to be ready for Crotched Mntn 100K on 8/19.

      Best regards,
      Tom

I recommend you ride easy for the rest of this week then pick up your training plan at week 9 on 7/24.
