ParticipantHi
Last year I did the 6hr mtb beginner and 6hr mtb PB plans back-to-back. Then I trained/raced 10-12 wks of cyclo-cross and I've just had about 3 wks off the bike (not all of it planned.)
So I'm setting my goals again for 2011 which as usual include a “winter project” to stop me from getting lardy. I've picked a Singlespeed race here in CT/NY in mid-April, 25 miles, at the same site as the 40-miler multispeed race I did last year – nice flowy terrain, good SS riding.
Questions:
1) I've never ridden SS but am looking on this as a winter fitness project and a chance to do a race that I've wanted to do for a while. I plan to convert my mtb to SS for training and the race. As of today (1/3/11) there are 16 wks to the SS race. Following that race there are 16 wks to the multispeed 40-miler and I'll start the 6hr PB plan again. Following that race I'll start training for CX.
2) I'm unsure whether to pick the SS Base or SS PB plan. Obviously it's a winter project/base period but I would like to try and be competitive/have enough fitness to have fun

Lynda
KeymasterKB,
1) Is there a question in there?
2) Start with the SS Base training plan //lwcoaching.com/?page_id=79
3) SS is a great winter plan
4) The Soul Craft conversion kit is good. Use Sheldon Brown's chart to compare gearing http://www.sheldonbrown.com/gears/
