DaveKeymasterI want to do a personal record 12 hour that is 11 weeks away, and then a personal record 24 hour that is 8 weeks after that.
Is it possible to do a stack that will cover these well?

Lynda
KeymasterAssuming you will be racing both of these events solo:
Follow the 12 hour plan and chop out week #2 to reduce it to 11 weeks in duration.
After your 12 hour solo race take a week off to recover.

DaveKeymasterYes, racing both solo.
Thanks a million!!!

DaveKeymasterHey Lynda,
Sorry to bug you again but I had to take this week off mostly as recovery as I still haven't come right after my last big race. I figured having the down time so I could train properly when I started back up would be beneficial.
What other week can I leave out of the 12 hr plan since I'll now only have 10 weeks to train?
Also, have I done the right thing here? I know I'll lose a bit of fitness with the time off but I just hate going into a training block feeling drained and unmotivated/
Cheers

KeymasterYes you have absolutely done the right thing. You won't be losing fitness yet and going into a training a block feeling drained and unmotivated is a huge mistake.
The next week to chop out of the plan to shrink it to 10 weeks is week #5.

DaveKeymasterExcellent, thanks so much 🙂

DaveKeymasterOk, things just keep on changing on me 🙁
The race in August I planned for doesn't look like it will go ahead. And I've already purchased the 12 hour plan…
Is there anyway I can make this work, ensuring that I a fit a fresh for a solid go at my 24? Would I still use the 12 hr plan for the 200 miler (even though it's more likely to take me 20 odd?)
200 miler in 11 weeks time
24hr 7 weeks after that

KeymasterWill you rephrase your question. I can't make sense of your post.

DaveKeymasterSorry, I'll try to keep this simple
Initial plans have been changed on me. I am now training for a 200 mile race in 11 weeks time, then a 24hr race 7 weeks after that. I already purchased the 12hr plan to train for a 12hr – can I used this to train for the 200 mile race? And if so, is 7 weeks going to be enough to recover and then use some weeks of the 24hr plan to get in shape for that?
Does that make sense?

KeymasterHow long will the 200 mile take you?
I did KMC 200 a few years ago and won it in 32 hours. It was a full on mtb course. A gravel grinder or road event will go much faster and take less time, and a different best training plan.

DaveKeymasterI'm looking at around 22 hours I think. It's more of a gravel grinder, with only some technical sections.

Lynda
KeymasterFor a 22 hour race you should train on the 24 hour plan.

DaveKeymasterOk, I'll make the switch.
What weeks can I cut out of the 24 hour plan to trim it down to 11 weeks?
Then after the first race, what weeks do I

Lynda
KeymasterOn the first plan chop week #2. On the second plan….wait until you are there and have made all your race changes and then ask me once!
