      Hi!

I am following the PR50 plan, and am aiming to peak at the Firecracker 50 in Breckenridge on the 4th of July.  I am currently on week 10, day 1 in order to do this.  My questions are:

My race is actually taking place on week 13 day three.  Can you help me shift this so racing on Wednesday is day 7 of week 12?

Also, I have an 80 mile road race this Saturday I would like to compete in, but it is scheduled to be my rest week.  Can I fit this in? This race is a fun one, but by no means terribly important to me.  It has a very high mountain pass and then a appx, 50 mile rolling/downhill.  It could be good to gear up.  Whatever you think though.

      Thanks!

Week #10: Do the 80 mile RR on Sat instead of the intervals and take Sunday off.

Week #11: Starting with week 11 day 1 move the entire plan 3 days forward to bump your week 12 day 7 peak race day forward to July 4th.

This will leave you with a gap to fill Mon – Wed where week 11 days 1-3 originally were. Fill them as follows. Mon do your normal Monday routine. Tues do a 60 min light recovery spin. Wed repeat the sessions from week #8 day 3. These 3 days will feel easy and allow you to recover and benefit from your 80 mile RR.

      Have a great FC50.

      one more question….

Thursday there is a dawn til dusk ride that people I know are doing in honor of the solstice.  Is it possible for me to ride a long ride that day? If the 80 mile race i talked about above would screw that up, I can do this instead.

      Thanks again

How many hours is that ride?

potentially from 4.45 am till 8.30 @ night.  It is possible to do parts or half, etc. If you think it is a good idea, could you also reccommend a pace?

      Thanks.

This close to your peak race I recommend sticking to the plan. I don't recommend doing a 7 hour ride.

so, if I stick to the plan, that would make the solstice my Monday as I will be setting the schedule up for the race on a Wednesday.  Could I at least switch that day so I can do the group ride? I dont want to make this too confusing by switching too many things around, but it would be nice to ride the group pace for a couple of hours at least.

      Thanks.

Several weeks away from your peak race day changing the plan is no biggie. Close to race day you have less time to make downstream adaptations for training mistakes caused by going off plan. July 4th and your peak race is in 2 weeks.

My recommendation stays the same. Stick to the plan.
