ParticipantI’m interested in doing one of the online training plans through training peaks. I have a handful of races through the summer and fall but am keying in on 2, one on 8/9 and the highest priority one on 11/8. I’ve never had any coaching. I’m currently racing expert in our local racing series (over 40 age group). Do you have a suggestion for what plans to stack or repeat based on that information?

KeymasterStart by browsing our Masters 40+ training plans. Are you racing gears or single-speed? Cross-country or endurance racing? Tell me more about each race and I will recommend the best training plan stack for you.

ParticipantI’m racing geared, cross country. Most races are around 2 hours but a couple are about 3 hours. It looks like the masters 40+ would be a good fit if I can commit to the hours required. I really want to peak for the last race of the year on 11/8 (Iceman) so I would be open to a stack where the first portion requires less hours- maybe one of the time crunched plans. Is that enough info for you?

KeymasterI recommend you start next week on Monday 6/2 with the 12 week TIME CRUNCHED Category 1 Cross Country Mountain Bike Base Training Plan. Shorten this plan to 10 weeks by dropping weeks # 3 and 7 from the plan. This will bring you into good form for your race on 8/9.
8/11/14 take a week off training for rest and recovery.
8/18/14 start and follow the 12 week Masters 40+ Cross Country Mountain Bike Build Peak and Race Training Plan ending with a peak performance on 11/8 at Iceman.
