MemberMy main goal for next year is to finish the Cascade Creampuff in a respectable time on my singlespeed. I'd also like to race the local XC series (March to June) and a few 30/60 mile races to keep the training interesting.
My history: I attempted the CCP in 2007 with the 100 mile finisher plan, and just didn't have enough speed to finish in the required time. In 2008 I finished the CCP after doing your expert time crunched cross country plan. In 2009 I tried to complete the 100 mile personal best plan and then the CCP on my SS, my training fell apart in the last 1/2 of the plan, and weather was horrible that day (and there was a keg and a fire at 50 miles) leading to me dropping out.
I haven't done much since, just regular recreational riding. I'm 38 years old and 20lbs heavier than I was in 2008.
What plans should I stack to achieve my goals?
Right now I'm thinking:
Cat 2 Base/Cat Build Peak Race/100 Mile Personal Best or
SS Base/SS Build Peak Race/100 Mile Personal Best
I'm a little concerned about getting burned out over the winter if I'm riding too much in the rain and dark.

KeymasterScott,
I recommend you stack the following plans to land at CCP ready to set a PR this year on your SS.
Weight Loss and Base Training Plan
LW Coaching SINGLE SPEED Cross Country Mountain Bike Base Training Plan
100 Mile Mountain Bike Race – Personal Record Plan
The first plan has some cross training in which goes a long way towards keeping your body fit and balanced and avoiding mental bike-burnout.

MemberLynda,
I'm currently in week 3 of the weight loss and base training plan.
2 things occurred recently. I got stitches in my hand, so I'm off the bike for a week, and the CCP100 date got announced as July 1, a week early than I had planned.
My question is where should I shave a week in the 3 training plans you have listed above?
Thanks,
Scott

KeymasterOuch – stitches in your hand does not sound good!
Chop a week off the end of your Weight Loss and Base Training Plan
