36 y/o mildly experienced endurance racer, followed your cat1 time crunched base and 5-7 day stage race plans for Breck epic last year with really good success, i did the plan finder this year and just wanted to see if you had any other thoughts with May being so heavy- plan finder said start the cat1 base time crunch now in week8 and move to 100k PR on Feb 10.

The “A” events i’m looking at for this year are largely these (i do realize 3 “A” events in May probably doesn’t make sense.

May 5th PMBAR (probably geared) 70ish miles in Pisgah
May 19th Pisgah 111k 69 ish miles Pisgah – SS
May 20th Pisgah 55.5k 34 ish miles pisgah – SS
Sep 8th Monster Cross 72 miles
      Oct 27th-28th double dare – 120 miles over 2 days – SS

      Hi Matt,

Great to hear you had really good success with our training plans.

I recommend a slightly different plan stack:

1/15 – Start the Cat 1 time-crunched base plan and follow the first 4 weeks of the plan

2/12 – Start the 100 km Mountain Bike Race Personal Record Mountain Bike Training Plan and follow all 12 weeks to a peak on May 5th (PMBAR)

5/7 – Take a recovery week off plan as 3 days totally off then 4 days short easy spin rides

5/14 – Repeat week 12 and peak again for Pisgah 111/55.5k. That is a helluva a combo to race Sat/Sun! Things get real in Pisgah!

Thanks! I’m lucky enough to have big parts of those courses in my backyard so I get on course training a lot.

Out of curiosity did that 100k PR plan get upgraded to have the structured workouts and whatnot?

Not yet! It is near the top of the list and will be done before the end of January. When it is complete, the upgraded plan will be automatically loaded into your TrainingPeaks training plan library. It will not automatically be applied to your TP training plan calendar. You will need to apply the upgraded plan to your TP calendar to use it.
