ParticipantHi Lynda,
For the 2018 XC race season, my plan is to complete both the 40+ Base and the 40+ Build Peak training plans lining up for my “A” priority races in April 15th and May 6th.
I’m just finishing week 5 of the 40+ Base program and I’m looking ahead to some holiday travel that will have me off the bike for nine days after week 9 of the Base program. I’m writing to ask how to return to training once I get back. Should I go back to previous weeks in the plan? Do I need to retest when I return? Thanks to your plan, I feel really good on the bike these days and I want to try and continue that momentum into the 2018 season.

KeymasterHi Dovas,
I recommend dropping week 9 (a recovery week) from your plan. Complete week 10 prior to your vacation. Recover off the bike and off-plan on vacation. After you return from vacation get back on plan where you need to in order to peak for your April 15th race. By my calculations this is week 10 day 2 or 3 but I’m not sure of your exact timing.
You do not need to re-test when you return. you will be retesting in week 12.
Glad to hear you are feeling really good on the bike!
