      I am 6 weeks into the LW Coaching 40+ Masters 50 Mile Mountain Bike Race Personal Record Training Plan and am finding it great.

      I am using this to prepare for a 100km MTB race on the 26th of Feb The Otway Odyssey in Australia.
      I have entered a stage race, The Croc Trophy. In Queensland, Australia from the 5th to the 12th of November.
      It is over 8 days. Day 1, a 10km prologue and 7 days racing covering 720 km and 14,000m climbing.

      I will be 60 years young, so the goal is to complete the event. I have completed in other multi day stage events, The Pioneer, NZ and Mongolia Bike Challenge.

      This will be the hardest, because of the heat and humidity.

      After the Otway event it will be 32 weeks to the Croc Trophy.

      Could you recommend some suitable plans to prepare for this event.

      Hi Greg,

      Super to hear your training plan is going great! Croc Trophy is a huge race – that’s exciting!!

      I recommend taking 2 weeks off training after Otway. Spend the first week focusing on recovery and the second week doing light fun activities.

      March 14 – June 5: Complete the 12-week Masters 40+ Mountain Bike Base Mountain Bike Training Plan

      Jun 6 – June 12: Take a week off training for extra recovery or to catch up on a missed week.

      June 13 – July 31: Follow weeks 1-7 of the Masters 40+ Cross Country Mountain Bike Build Peak and Race Mountain Bike Training Plan. This is a speed training block, which will increase your overall speed finishing each stage at Croc Trophy.

      Aug 1 – Aug 7: Take a week off training for extra recovery or to catch up on a missed week.

      August 8 – Oct 30: Complete the 12-week Masters 40+ Mountain Bike 5-7 day Stage Race Mountain Bike Training Plan
