ParticipantI'm in week 2 of my 12 week 100 mile PR plan, peaking for Cohutta 100.
I'm “mixing up” my 8 hours of riding this weekend in that I have a 6 hour race Saturday and will do 2 hours of recovery on Sunday (instead of 5 and 3). I won't go “all out” during the race, but use it more as a big structured training ride.
Having said all that, I feel totally and completely unmotivated for my ride today. It's cloudy, it's cold, etc etc. Winter blues I guess. As of right now I have 0 desire to ride my bike or to do intervals. Wondering if I bit off a bit more than I can chew with the “PR” program

What would you suggest I do?
Power through it and go anyways? Go ahead and take a day off, do some yoga/ab work and train as scheduled tomorrow/friday? Should I do a couple of lighter days so that I'm not burnt out for Saturday?

KeymasterTake today off. Make sure you are not getting sick. It is common to feel this way a day or 2 before the flu hits full force.
Do a light 1 hour recovery ride on Thur.
Do the scheduled ride on Friday but cut ride time to one hour and keep the intervals as-is. Make the strength session on Friday light. Do the strength but keep it light just going through all the motions.
Have fun following your plan at the weekend. Being burnt is always a good thing to take extra steps to avoid. If you still feel this way next week, miss out week #3 and skip forward to week #4 which is a rest week.

ParticipantThanks for the advice.
I went ahead and took yesterday off biking, but still did some strength/code workouts while watching TV. Feel much better after slacking off a day and with the sunshine outside today. Looking forward now to getting on the bike tonight.
Thanks!!
