      Hello Lynda,

I have been riding for about 7 years, I usually do a couple of races a year finishing in at least the top 3rd of my age group (48 years old). I have been training over the winter using a program from BikeJames.com which involved core strength training and then a  combination of threshold and cardiac on bike work. I try to squeeze in a 30 mile road ride  at least once a week at between 16 and 17 mph average. My weekly rides are usually 1.5 to 2 hours of ride time, my threshold level is 160 to 163, I spend most of my time in the 160 to 165 range when I am riding. I am currently averaging about 6 hours a week on the bike.

I definitely struggle on long climbs. I have a number of races coming up in May and June that I am going to join. I would like to get a good program to take me through the spring and summer. Do you think I can start with the Build, Peak Race for 40+ or do I need to start with the base building program first?

      Thanks

      Jim
