ParticipantHi,
I’m planning on a 200 mile mtb race (18 hr estimated completion time) on April 3rd, then a 350 mile race on April 27 (48 hr completion time). What plans would you suggest? I’m currently pretty fit from last season (I.e. I just pre rode a 9 hr course for fun) and had two weeks off the bike hiking to just mix it up a bit. I probably won’t start structured training until after thanksgiving…although I’ll certainly be riding a bunch.Maybe the endurance mtb plan then Then 24 hr plan? I’ll probably be indoors a lot in Jan & feb during the weekdays
Thanks! - October 27, 2017 at 5:01 am #17682

KeymasterThe Winter Training Plan for Endurance Distance Mountain Bikers Mountain Bike Training Plan followed by the 24-Hour Solo Mountain Bike Personal Record Mountain Bike Training Plan is a great combo. If the 48 hour is a bikepacking style event then I recommend the 2 – 5 day Bikepacking Race Mountain Bike Training Plan instead of the 24 hour PR plan.
training with the Winter/24 PR plan combo I recommend you end week 12 of the 24 PR plan on April 7th, take a week off after for deep recovery then follow weeks 11 and 12 again to peak for your 350 miler.

ParticipantThanks! From my count, it’s 18 weeks from dec to April. Should I do the first half of the winter plan? Then go straight into the next? Or do the 2nd half of the winter plan?
