15 months ago I broke my femur and was flown from a 60 mile mtn bike race course in Fruita to a trauma center in Grand Junction where a surgeon put a plate in my leg. Im 47, and when I found out last winter I got into the Leadville 100 I bought your Base Plan for Masters and then your 12 week 100 miler PR Plan for Masters.
The race went almost perfect. My goal was 10 hours and I finished feeling strong at 9:39. I blew away both my goals. I continually passed people the entire last 50 miles, able to encourage people and generally feeling really good. I was the sometime obnoxious “cheerleader” climbing Powerline encouraging other riders saying, “come on ! You may never have a chance to do this race again!”
Your plan put me there. My back was never sore due to the lifting in your plan. I had power in my legs to climb Powerline after climbing Columbine. I ate real food and never felt low. I stayed in my heat rate zones and was able to power on the flats and only got off the bike climbing Powerline because people in front of me were walking.
Thanks for what you do and your plans and helping me adjust things for other races like the Silver Rush 50. Now I need to work on shaving 39 min off my time and grabbing the large buckle in my second Leadville next year.

Congrats on such a fantastic come-back from your broken leg and a fast finish at Leadville 100. Finishing feeling strong in 9:39 is awesome!!! Congrats.
