ParticipantCurrent Plan: Masters Bike, Build, Peak & Race (previous stacked plan was Masters Bike Base Training). I am at Week 5 of Build plan. I have not been able to complete the L5 two sets 3×3 workouts since starting the Build plan. I am able to maintain the requested power for the first interval of the first set, but for the 2nd and 3rd intervals my power drops quickly and I have to turn off the ERG mode just to continue spinning at whatever power I can (usually 20W below requested power). The last 3 intervals of the second set are done at very low power and I cannot complete them. I feel very drained and defeated afterwards. My FTP is set correctly, I am able to do the other work outs. The L4: 3 x 15 workouts are difficult but I can complete them. Q1: Should I continue fighting my way through the L5 workouts? Q2: Am I still reaping the intended benefits by working at a lower power? Thank you!

KeymasterHi Sylvia,
Once you reach a point in the workout when you cannot acheive the target power level, end the workout with a 5-10 min easy spin. Do not continue to gut through sub-par intervals. Quality in L5 sessions is far more important than quantity. Completing one set of high quality intervals is a good option.
