My 15 year old followed your pre-season HS plan carefully to prepare for JV2 this year with good success. His strength from lifting and core plus overall fitness are very good from following the program. But, we are not sure what will come of this season due to Covid and the start of the practice season is now 6wks away while we wait to learn more about season details. Summer MTB racing in MN is cancelled. Now what? We may need to purchase another training program leading us into the “potential” season as well as through the season- whatever it may be. Certainly this season will be in flux – roll with the punches and all that.

2020 is the year to be adaptable and ready for anything!
I recommend your son progresses on to our TIME CRUNCHED Category 1 Cross Country Mountain Bike Build, Peak and Race Mountain Bike Training Plan if hr is unable to attend team practices this season.

Makes sense, he is ready with good MTB specific weight lifting program base. Category 1 time crunched covers 12wks with race of choice peak. MN state championships is our planned peak and it occurs on Oct 31/Nov 1, about 20wks out from now. What should we do with the remaining 8 wks?
He would prefer to follow your program for the season instead of the HS MTB team program which is designed with a broader level of rider capabilities in mind.

Post the date you will start this plan and the dates of all your races and I will recommend the best fit.

Race #1 – Brophy Park – Aug. 29/30
Race #2 – Summit Lake – Sept. 19/20
Race #3 – Game Haven – Sept. 26/27
Race #4 – Mt. Kato – Oct. 24/25
State Race – Mt. Kato – Oct. 31/Nov. 1

Our training start date is next week, this is the last week of the pre-season plan. If the stars align, the official HS league starts the first week of July.

Starting on 6/15, follow the plan weeks 1 – 11 to Race #1 – Brophy Park – Aug. 29/30.
8/31 return to week 4 (rest week), then follow the plan weeks 4-12 to peak in week 12 for State Race – Mt. Kato – Oct. 31/Nov. 1
