      Hi Lynda

I am on the Cat 1 base plan 2 months into the program. My first “group ride” occured today, and because of trail conditions I decided on my 'roadie' group ride that I usually do much later in the season when my fitness is up.

The ride I went on today averages 25 to 30mph for 40 miles. It is the fastest ride in our area. 'go hard' or 'get dropped'

Is this what you suggest?  I had a very hard time holding on so early in the season with this gang of roadies that have been at it for the past 3 months as their season starts earlier than ours on. I really forced high zone 4 and 5.

The next few weeks call for these 'group' rides, so please let me know if you want me to mix them up between mtb and road group rides, and if that pace is what you are looking for. My first race isn't until May.

      thanks Lynda.

Okay so you are confirming the pain and suffering I witnessed today on the road. Should I also plug in some MTB group rides?

      Yes.
