Race: xc race, 7 hours. complete as many laps as possible. I was a solo entry.
I have been following the Masters 50 mile plan for an enduro xc event in Scotland.
I was on the verge of over training a couple of times, due to not being used to the higher intensity sessions, but the rest weeks were brilliant, both physically and mentally.
Last year I did 6 laps on my own training “plan”
This year I completed a PR of 7 laps which is brilliant i.e an extra 10km.
The lap consists of 400m climb followed a awesome flowing singletrack decent, which makes up for all the climbing, which is brutal in places.
The weather helped, as the roots were not too slippy in the dry.
I was not going to do the event next year, but having looked at the results for when I change up an age group, I could be going for a podium spot if I enter next year.
I think the Winter Base plan and a loss of weight is next priority.
Thanks for the great advice, highly recommended.

Congrats on smashing your race expectations! Thanks for the report. Going for a podium spot next year sounds like a great plan.
