I would appreciate if you could spare a minute to discuss how you approach coming back from being ill. I am in week 5 day 1 of the 40+ masters base training plan
For most of week 4 (Tues – Friday) I was really sick with the flu and could not train at all. I was able to do 1.5 hours of the 2 hr day 6 workout but primarily in zone 1 instead of zone 2 (felt good but low energy/power due to the week of being crazy sick). I was able to complete the day 7 workout as described without ill effect other than a little more post exercise soreness than usual due to the layoff
What would your suggestion be as to reapplying the plan? Start week 4 over and complete from there? continue from week 5? etc. I am trying to understand how to address this while still keeping with your overall training strategy.
I appreciate any input you could provide
Thank you very much

KeymasterGreg,
Uugh. Getting sick is never fun. This winter, I have had more athletes miss weeks of training due to a respiratory infection or flu than in my previous 18 years of coaching. It has been a doozy of a flu season so far.
I recommend starting week 4 over and doing it again if you have time in your schedule before your peak race.
