      Hi Lynda,

      I completed a 100K last week and rested this past week. My next event is Shenandoah 100 on September 2nd. This will be my first 100 mile event. I have the Masters 50 PR plan. Should I extend time or mileage as I train for Shenandoah? Any other recommendations?

      Tom,

      First thing you should do is to make sure you are recovered from your last block of racing. Take a week off training this week!

      To train for Shenandoah 100, the best option is to switch to the Masters 100 miler training plan. If you continue to use the Masters 50 miler plan to train for this 100 miler I recommend taking day 4 off the bike and riding longer on day 6.

      Thank you for the quick reply.

      Day 6 on the 50 miler plan is race pace for 1 hour up to 3 hours depending on the week. How much longer should I make those rides?

      On recovery weeks do not add extra time. On training weeks add 2 hours of zone 2-3 (100 miler race pace).
