ParticipantHello,
I'll be using your 100 mile finisher plan to prepare for my first Leadville 100 this year. The plan calls for a long ride of 3 hours, 7 days from the race. Since I will already be in Colorado, I would really like to ride the Copper Triangle 87 mile road ride one week prior to Leadville. Clearly, it's something I can do, but what is your opinion on that? Do you feel like it would have too negative of an impact on my Leadville performance?
Not sure if it matters, but while it's probably a bit out of reach for me, I'm going to try my best at a 9 hour finish.
Thanks!

KeymasterRiding the Copper Triangle 87 mile road ride one week prior to Leadville will make you slower at Leadville and make the race feel harder. As you approach a goal race the importance of sticking to the plan increases.

ParticipantThanks so much. At 47, I decided to go ahead and purchase the 40+ PR. A quick review showed an even lighter pre race week and quickly answered my question. Leadville is too important of a race to wing it going in. Thanks again!
