I am training for a 65 mile event in May and then am scheduled to ride Leadville in August. Due to the pandemic and social isolation policy I have limited access to trails. I am also limiting my road riding because of the overburdened healthcare system. Do you have any suggestions for the long weekend rides that are in the plan? I have a smart trainer but the thought of 3 hour rides on the smart trainer seems incredibly, mind numbingly boring!!! Thanks!

Have you tried riding on your smart trainer on the Zwift platform? It is a game changer when it comes to engagement and passing the time. You can join group rides with friends and strangers and participate in races. I recommend giving Zwift a try. Watching movies or listening to an audio book helps too. You can add in short rests off the trainer to stretch to break up the time too.
Other suggestions are to split up the ride into 2 shorter rides on the trainer or do 1 shorter ride then go outside for a walk for the rest of your session time.

I use Zwift to run the training sessions but I have not gotten into the racing or group riding. I guess I will give it a try! I like the idea of breaking them up. I am really impressed with this program and the base training program! Thanks so much for the feedback!
