      Hi question,

      Could it be use full to do the base plan 2 times in a row. So in total 24 weeks?
      With a better condition and higher Threshold values you can maybe improve your base much more in another 12 weeks? And after 24 week do the more specific race training plan?

      Hi Frank,

      Yes, there are many reasons to follow a Base plan twice in a row. I often recommend following all or a portion of the plan at 50% volume the first time around, then at 100% volume the second time around. This is a great way to ease back into Base training after a long break or injury.

      If you can follow the plan 100% the first time, it is likely you will get more performance gains from following a Build, Peak and Race plan such as our Category 1 Cross Country Mountain Bike Build, Peak and Race Mountain Bike Training Plan or Masters 40+ Cross Country Mountain Bike Build Peak and Race Mountain Bike Training Plan, than a repeat of the Base plan.

      Ok thanks. I can follow the base plan without any issues at the moment. It is perfect for me. Iā€™m a little bit afraid that Iā€™m to strong in the beginning of the race season in march alteady. I have about 8 races from March till September. If I start your Race plan in January to March is that the best way to be prepared for the season? And I like to join some winter races for fun and training as well from January – March. And then I have to see how to maintain the fitness from April to September. There will be some Peak races to train for like the Dutch championship I don t have the calendar already. Thanks.

      Aim to finish your race plan during the week of your first important race of the season.

      Ok Lynda thank you. Maybe you have some suggestions for Maintain fitness during the season oe is the only way to do that with a coach?

      To maintain fitness during the season use your race plan as follows. On race week follow week 12 and the week after have a rest week. The prior week to race week follow week 11, the prior week to that follow week 10 and so on until you run backwards into a rest week after the prior race.
