MemberHello, I am using the 100 Mile Finisher plan (purchased via TrainingPeaks in 2012) to try and help me finish a NUE race this year. (I tried last year and gave up 3/4 of the way through — a mistake on my part.)
This year I'm planning on riding a hard tail bike instead of a full suspension, and I'm slightly concerned about core workout stuff because when pushing hard for extended periods of time (1-2 hours) on washboard dirt roads I'll get a bit of lower back soreness. This goes away within 20 minutes of getting off of the bike, so I believe it to be muscle related and something which core workouts can probably help me with.
My question is, what kind of core workouts should I be doing for this?
There are a lot of different options, and I'm wondering which ones I should pick. I can't quite tell if I should be working on lower back things more, or other muscles so (the sides and my abs?) so they support my lower back better. I haven't experienced any ab or side-of-body muscle soreness while riding so I suspect that those muscles are sufficient for me, but I may be very wrong on this…
Thank you very much!

KeymasterI recommend a core training program with a lot of variety. Mix up the exercises, reps and sets on each core session. Here are links to exercise options:
