    Hi –

    I am trying to figure out the best training plan for my first Winter Race – Chico Fat Bike Birkie in March 2019. The distance is 21K. I have been riding but nothing to intense yet. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

    With a little more info I can recommend the best plan for you.

    1. What date in March is the race?

    2. What are your goals for the race?

    3. What is your age?

    Thank you for the quick response!
    The Race is March 9 2019. I’m 50 years old, female. My goal is to ride and finish strong, have fun on this hilly course in WI. My training partner is 42 female. We’ll both be following a plan.

    Hi April,

    Thx for the additional info. You have 18 weeks to race day. I recommend you start with our 12-week Masters 40+ Mountain Bike Base Mountain Bike Training Plan and then progress on to our Masters 40+ Cross Country Mountain Bike Build Peak and Race Mountain Bike Training Plan. This is also a 12 week plan. To fit your schedule and peak for Chico Fat Bike Birkie March 9th, follow weeks 7 – 12 of this second plan.

    Hi Coach Lynda –

    I received the 12 week Master +40 MTB Base Plan, it’s awesome! I realize recover is very important! Looking at the weekly schedule, is it possible to move some of the longer rides to different days during the week but keeping all rides the same for the week? Tues/Thurs/Friday I work less hours per day and have the afternoon/evening to complete the training for the day. Mon/Weds, I work much longer hours but can get in shorter rides with no problem.

    Yes it is ok to move the rides around to fit your schedule best.
