      Hi Lynda,

Yay!  I did it.  It took me a while to figure this forum stuff out.  Sorry for any inconvenience!

      So, as I was saying…

It seems that my goals for the season has been changing over the weeks of base training and I wanted to keep you updated in case you wanted to switch things around after weeks 1-5 on the 50 mile mtb race plan.  I am currently almost done with the Cat 1 XC base plan.

My goal this season is to get as many ACA points so I can move up to Cat 1 and further this year. I would really like to peak at Mountain Bike Nats in SV, ID July 6-8th, instead of the Breck 50 on July 4th, like we discussed earlier.

So far, I am at the end of week #10 in base, have a rest week, and then will start the PR 50 Mile Mtb Plan weeks 1-5, then my racing schedule will be as follows…

      1. Whiskey 50: April 28th

      2. 12 Hrs of Mesa Verde: May 12th, 2-3 man team

      3. MSC XC#1, Salida: May 19th

      4. Iron Horse Road Race, XC Mtb Race: May 26th, 27th

      5. MSC XC #2, Angelfire: June 9th (??) OR Beti Bike Bash, Denver: June 10th

      6. MSC XC #3, CB: June23rd

      7. Mtb Nationals, Sun Valley: July 6-8thLaugh

      8. MSC XC #4, State Champs, Steamboat or Mt. Evans Hill Climb?, July 21st

      9. Hermosa Off-road Classic: July 28th

      10. MSC XC #5, Telluride, Aug. 11th

      11. Dirt Lovers Rally XC, Sept. 29th

      14. Road Apple Rally XC, Oct. 6th

Can you help me tweek my schedule with these changes on the PR 50 plan?

This is what we had before:

12/26/11 start the Category 1 Cross Country Mountain Bike Base Training Plan and follow the entire plan weeks 1-12.

3/19/12 take a week off training for recovery

3/26/12 start the 50 Mile Mountain Bike Race – Personal Record Plan and follow weeks 1-5. Then continue on the plan as per the table below. The weeks are moved around to fit rest weeks and race weeks into your training to match your race schedule.

End with a peak on 7/4 at Firecracker 50 and then spin easy for the rest of that week rather than stick to the plan

      DatePlan week #
      3/26/20121
      4/2/20122
      4/9/20123
      4/16/20124
      4/23/20125
      4/30/20127
      5/7/20126
      5/14/20127
      5/21/20128
      5/28/20129
      6/4/201210
      6/11/20129
      6/18/201210
      6/25/201211
      7/2/201212

Do you still think I should follow the PR 50 mile plan or the Category 1 Cross Country Mountain Bike Build, Peak and Race Training Plan?

Thanks so much for your help!

      Brianne:)

      Hi Lynda,

After my Category 1 Cross Country Mountain Bike Base Training Plan is finished on March 18th, should I take a week off, then continue onto the Category 1 Cross Country Mountain Bike Build, Peak and Race Training Plan?  Can you time the training days with my new race schedule like you did before?  That was so helpful to put down on a calendar.  I really want to peak at mtb nats in Sun Valley after the 4th of July.  Thanks so much for your help!  I am really excited about my season!

      Brianne,

Start the 12 week Category 1 Cross Country Mountain Bike Build, Peak and Race Training Plan 12 weeks prior to your top priority race. If that is Mountain Bike Nats in SV, ID July 6-8th you would start it on 4/16/12. If your priorities change again switch the start date to 12 week prior to you new priority race.

If you finish the Base plan on 3/18 and start the Build, Peak and Race plan on 4/16 you now have 4 “spare” weeks to play with. Following weeks 3, 6, 9 and 10 from your 50 Mile Mountain Bike Race – Personal Record Plan would be a great use of those 4 weeks.

      Hi Lynda,

Thanks so much.  I haven't purchased the 50 Mile Mountain Bike Race – Personal Record Plan, so are there any weeks in the  Category 1 Cross Country Mountain Bike Base Training Plan that I could use for those weeks or are you suggesting I buy the 50 mile PR plan, too?

      Thanks for your help!

      Brianne,

Category 1 Cross Country Mountain Bike Base Training Plan weeks to repeat in your 4 week period are 3, 7, 11 and 12. That will work nicely.

      Thanks Lynda,

Sorry, one more thing.  When should I take my week off the bike?  At the end of my current base or after the extra 4 weeks before I start the Category 1 Cross Country Mountain Bike Build, Peak and Race Training Plan?
