MemberHi Lynda – Thanks for past advice. I am doing the Cat 1 Base plan followed by 6-hour PR plan for goal races June 15 and 22. Bad bouts of bronchitis and pneumonia going around on the Oregon coast, especially among athletes. Last few weeks of Cat 1 base went like this:
-completed week 5
-missed week 6 and on antibiotics for wheezy lungs
-lungs cleared in week 7 and i finished 5 of 7 days
-Missed almost all of week 8 due to cold number two (thanks, kids) … it's above the neck. Cough due to postnasal drip, lungs clear. Half the town has it.
Question: Should I start week 9 and just keep going?
I am scheduled to start the PR plan April 1. Also have a class C XC race that weekend. To date, the Cat 1 base plan has left me less tired than last year's regimen, where I was racing trail runs and some duathlons during the off-season, so I don't think it's fatigue. I've felt good during the z3 and z4 stuff.
Plan to do an easy 60-90 minute trail ride tomorrow and try the week 8 test on Sunday.
