ParticipantHi Lynda,
I’m doing 7 day mtb race plan (Finisher), now in the last 4 weeks, preparing for Transalps next month.
The plan describe long rides on weekends ( 5 hours) and it’s hard to accomplish that time, mainly because my partners plan rides just up to 4 hours.
My question is, is it possible to increase the intensity(IF) of the ride to compensate the reduction in time (Volume)? Will it work or should I stay just in zones 1 and 2, what’s looks very light pedal?
Another point is: Sometimes, on hills (weekends), to keep the group pace I need to enter on zone 5 for up to 30minutes, is it a real problem?
Best regards from Brazil!

KeymasterIt is ok to shorten your ride by an hour and increase the intensity when you need to for the steep hills and to stay with your group.
Is it possible for you to start your ride 1 hour before your partners to get your extra time in?
