ParticipantLynda,
1st week of Breck Epic training is in the books. Went well and moved a workout to deal with life stuff. Anyways, I live at sea level and head up to Mammoth Lakes (8k-11k elevation) as much as possible for weekends. Should I take 5-10% FTP, keep changing my WKO or just manually change TSS? - May 28, 2014 at 8:46 am #10750

ParticipantThat’s some pretty substantial changes! Somewhat on the same subject. What do you believe the front of the 40+ mens field W/Kg is? I realize that there are many other factors, but for a performance goal.

KeymasterHeading up to Mammoth to train is great!
Here is a chart with the decay in power with altitude for acclimatized and non-acclimatized athletes.
As you see you are under-estimating the impact of altitude. The benefit of being acclimatized is significant.
At 8k your threshold will be 15.8% lower than at sea level and at 10k, 20.7% lower.
