ParticipantHi, starting the Masters Build… training plan on Feb 14th, finishing in time to peak for UK National XC race round 3 (Grand Vets 50+) have 2 weeks ‘buffer’ in the plan before the ‘A’ Race. Looking for advice how to include some C & B races during the program. All C and B races are held on Sundays, not Saturdays and race dates don’t match the prescribed race days in the plan. All races are XCO 90 minute distance.
Thoughts are to just train as prescribed in the week preceding a C race, then copy the weekend race format (from the final week) for the Saturday and Sunday only.
For a B race, do the same but maybe ensure the B week is a ‘recovery week’ and swap recovery weeks if necessary.
Thoughts on how to do this? plus maximum races to include (rather than prescribed weekend training) during the 12 week period ? Noting after injury I’m a bit short of race practice!

KeymasterHi Andrew,
List your race dates and I can answer you more accurately.

KeymasterHi Anderw,
A quick ‘rule of thumb’ is when you add races to the plan you also need to add rest before and recovery after to stay in your optimal performance increasing zone.
