Hi Lynda, I start the 7 day stage race plan on Monday and the following Saturday I am planning to do a 60 mile mtb race, I realize that's not ideal, but the course is great and the promoters put on fun races, so I am super excited to do it….my question is, should I proceed as normal with the plan or should week one be modified?  Thanks!

By the following Saturday do you mean the Saturday of week #1 or week #2?

Are you following the 7-Day Mountain Bike Stage Race – Personal Record Plan or
7-Day Mountain Bike Stage Race – Finishers Plan?

Sorry for the extra questions but these details matter for my recommendations to be worth anything to you.

Stick with the plan to Saturday. Do the race on Saturday and take a rest day on Sunday.

Replace all sessions in week #2 with recovery rides (<60 min zone 1 spins) until you are ready to hit the target intensity of any session with the appropriate effort.

Read this article and use every trick to speed up your recovery and get back on plan Tools to Speed Recovery

Do not make up any replaced interval sessions.
