MemberHi Lynda,
I am staring the second week of the lose weight/Base plan. I did the 20 mins time trial last Saturday and I feel that the outcome is a but off. I am the guy from Costa Rica and last weekend had a trip to the beach. I did the time trial there, in Jaco. Flat as a table 10 KM circuit with no traffic.
Even though I live in a very hot part of San Jose and I am use to train at 80 – 84 F year round last saturday was very hot, around 90 F. I start the warm up at 11:00am, lasted 50 mins and then did the test. My average heart rate was 180 Bpm.
Last time I did this test was about 2 years ago and it was 174 Bpm. Is this normal? Is the heat the culprit?
My real question is, should I use 180 as my LTH or should I re-test?
Thanks.
Jose.

KeymasterHeat is the culprit. It will elevate HR 5-10 bpm depending on how hot, how humid and your hydration status.
Go with the 174bpm threshold or re-test in cooler conditions.
