KeymasterMarcus,
To make your 100km PR plan into a time crunched version the first thing to do is exchange all the recovery rides for passive rest. Drop the Friday ride off the plan each week.
The next places to cut back on the plan are outlined below in order of priority (chop the stuff at the top of the list first).
1. On interval day and tempo days, do a shortened warm up, do the prescribed intervals or tempo and then finish off with a short cool down. Shorting the warm up and cool down time does not diminish the effects of these workouts much.
2. There are three strength sessions on the plan per week. You can chop this down to two sessions.
3. In weeks 5-12 the Wednesday ride is a low priority ride. Drop that one from the plan if you are still time crunched after doing the above. Or just bike commute that day at an aerobic pace and call that your training.
4. On the weekends the Sunday ride always has a higher priority than the Saturday ride. Chop back on Saturday first if you have a busy weekend.
The two rides not to short on the plan are the Sundays on week #8 and #9. In these weeks it is fine to short the warm up and cool down on Saturday but keep the tempo time the same.
The highest priority rides on the plan during weeks 5-12 are Tues, Thurs and Sunday.
Doing your training during commute time can be an excellent use of time.
I hope that helps.
Good luck with the training, kids, work and
