Hi Lynda. I’m starting week 7 today of the Masters 50 mile plan after another year of finishing both the Masters base and then Master XC build and race plans. I started at week 4 of the 50 mile plan as I was still racing a few XC events just before and wanted the peak to land on the 100k event. I’ve done the 75k version of this race using this plan twice and have done really well with top 5 overalls and an overall 75k Masters win. The 100k(62 mile) version of this race has 9000k of elevation and I expect to finish around 6 hours or a little more. The 75k had me out there for 4:45 last time so this is an extra hour or maybe hour and a half I’ll be out there.

Going forward from the week 7 should I add some saddle time to the remaining “race pace” and “steady moderate” days in the training plan? I was guessing maybe between 30-60 minutes for each.

      Thanks!

      Hi DBentley,

Great to hear you are getting good use out of your training plans.

9k of elevation gai is a lot! I recommend adding 30 mins to your race pace and 60 mins to your steady moderate days to train more specifically for the 100k. Keep the mid-week interval sessions unchanged.

Sounds good! Will do. Also I see at the end of week 7 there is the “tech skills refined” workout with an hour of L2. Do I add an hour to this L2 section or is this intended to be an easier day?

Yes, add time to the L2 section at the end of the week 7 day 7 ride. Also to week 8 and 10, day 7 rides.

Do not add time to any rides in rest week #9 or taper week # 11.
