ParticipantI've been doing the Cat 1 XC Base plan this winter, and I'm done with the plan as of this week. I've detracted a touch from the end of the plan in that I did the “Huracan 300” route this weekend and am going to take a rest week my final week.
Based on an earlier post, I had the 100 mile “Finisher” planned lined up next and after my first 100 miler, I was going to switch to the “PR” plan. It seems that the “Finisher” plan is a little easier compared to the Cat 1 XC Base plan. I'd looks like I'd be going down a bit on the hours/intensity or at least remaining the same vs ramping up.
Should I try to push myself and go for the “PR” plan or do you think that I should maintain and do the 100 mile plan, even though my goals of “just finish” will change to “finish well” considering that I proved to myself that I can do > 100 mile days on the MTB. I don't want to overtrain or burn myself out, but I do want to improve and want to kick some serious butt in a few of the 6 hour/50 mile races that I'll do this year and also do well at the 100 milers.
Thanks!

KeymasterIf your goal has changed to “finish well” I recommend you follow the PR plan.

ParticipantOk cool, thank for the reassurance.
In terms of recovery. How long “should it take” to recover from a big 300 mile weekend before I start the 100 mile PR plan?
I did ~23 hours of active pedaling, pretty much all at Zone 1 (Average 125 heart rate on a 200 max). Today is my first day off the bike, and I'm a little sore and feel “tired”, but don't feel “bad” at all.

KeymasterAnywhere between 2-9 weeks depending on how depleted you came off the event.
